Vallejo Paints

Hi all, I suppose its a bit late to wish you all a merry xmas and a happy new year, as with my xmas cards.
As some of you will know, I have had issues with varnish finishes on my models but, just like Dave Smith, I am warming to the Vallejo range of acrylic paints. After disappointments with various varnishes, namely the new Airfix spray stuff I went back to the Vallejo varnish thinned with Vallejo airbrush thinner and I am happy with the result.

Ps Geoff is not allowed to mention the other result!!!!

Talking to Paul in P&S Hobbies the other day, he informs me that Boyes sell Vallejo paint that may be past its shelf life? he maintains that the normal paint has a life of only 10 months. I can't say that I have had any problems???

Hi All,

Don't know about Vallejo paints and their shelf life, but I know that I have some Humbrol Paints in my draw that is at least 20 YEARS old, and still performs when used.
MADE IN BRITAIN works again, and again!!

Hi all, I have some Humbrol and Revell paint in tinlets that have been with me for a few years. I have never been very happy with the tinlets, I find them very messy to work with, I will use them up but when they are gone they are gone, only to be replaced by Vallejo or Tamiya. At least Vallejo and Tamiya put their paint in containers that are easy to work with. What on earth ever possessed Humbrol and Revell to put paint in a tin that is so awkward to pour paint out of is beyond me.

Hi,

I use a pipette to take paint from the tin, or if I am feeling lazy a large sized brush, a number 5 or 6 usually works okay.
Where there's a will, there's a way!

May I add my best wishes to Zak for his special day tomorrow. Many happy returns, and I hope you get the model kit you had set your heart on. I never do, but there you go, if its a choice between a model that I want, a winning lottery ticket or a pair of socks, I get the pair of socks. If I fell into barrel of nipples I would come up sucking my thumbs.
